Frequently Asked Questions for Planning Your Field Trip

Q. How do I make reservations?

A. Reservations must be made by phone. The School Group Reservation Worksheet will help you with this process and save you time on the phone.

Q. How much does it cost and how can I pay?

A. The link below will provide you with ticket options and prices. Payment is made with one check when you arrive at the museum for your field trip.

Group Ticket Information

Q. How many chaperones do I need?

A. We require at least one chaperone for every 10 students. (A chaperone is an adult over 21.) We offer free admission to chaperones to insure that all groups are properly supervised. Click here to view more in depth chaperone information.

Q. Where does the bus drop us off? Where can the bus park?

A. The bus drop off is located outside the Main Entrance at 550 Water Street. Currently, free bus parking is available in our lots on Water Street, about a 3-minute walk from the museum. Overflow parking on grass is also available in a marked lot three blocks East of the museum.

Q. What about lunch?

A. Even if you're bringing your own lunches you MUST make a lunch reservation because we have limited space. Request a lunch reservation when you reserve your field trip.

Q. What should we do with our coats and lunches while in the museum?

A. We have limited lunch storage for groups visiting the museum and we suggest lunches be stored on your bus until mealtime. Re-entry stamps are available. Regrettably, we have no storage for coats and Circus World is an indoor-outdoor facility, so please keep coats with students at all times or leave coats on busses whenever possible.

Q. What about backpacks and cameras?

A. Students are not allowed to bring backpacks inside Circus World Museum. Please arrange to have backpacks left at school. Students can use cameras throughout the museum grounds. However, no flash photography, video or audio taping of any kind are permitted during Big Top or Razzle Dazzle performances.

Q. Is the museum accessible for wheelchairs?

A. Most of Circus World Museum is accessible and we have outdoor wheelchairs available on request. However, most guests prefer to bring their own if needed. Inquire at the reception desk or ask a staff member. The Feld Theater and some other facilities have limited wheelchair and companion seating. Some historic areas and outdoor areas are not easily accessed with wheelchairs. Please advise the number of wheelchair guests when making your reservation. Call (651) 221-9406.

Q. What's nearby?

A. There are many other interesting places within a short distance of Circus World Museum. The Baraboo Chamber and Wisconsin Dells Visitor and Convention Bureau websites will help you explore some of your options.

Q. Do you have guided tours?

A. Yes, we do have guided tours at Circus World Museum. However, tours and education programs require advance reservations. We also provide several programs that offer more in-depth exploration of circus history concepts and circus arts activities and give more structure to your visits to the museum. Guided tours and some programs require an additional fee so please inquire when making your reservation.

Q. What else do you have that will help me plan my trip?

A. Our field trip checklist will help you plan a successful field trip. You will also be mailed a "Field Trip Guidelines" sheet with your reservation. At any time prior to your visit you can download school visit information, a bus map, and our chaperone guide.

Q. Do you have someone who will come out to our school?

A. Yes! Our Education and Outreach Department offers lots of fun Circus World Museum programs at your school site.

Q. How can I talk directly to a Circus World staff person about my trip?

A. Click here to send us an e-mail with your questions. You can also talk to a reservationist by calling (608) 356-8341 or (866) 693-1500 if outside the Baraboo / Greater Wisconsin Dells area.
